Exactly.  What can they figure out without any fancy vocabulary or specific
prior knowledge?

If you don't already know, you'll learn a lot about which kids are already good
at "trying stuff", and which are less willing to dive in.  Of course, it's also
an opportunity to begin develop that willingness.

If kids need more support to get going, you can ask questions like, "What
happens if you change her step size to a bigger number?"  Encourage them to
describe what they see in their own words - then you learn what their words are,
and where they're at in terms of relating to such things.

There's _so_ much to think about!  Not every kid will take away the same things,
but there is something for everyone :-)
