I think the more experience they have with factoring the better students get at
it. Even if all they are learning in the elementary grades are easy easy
questions, at least they have seen it.
We have enough to teach at the secondary level, without having to teach what
they should have learned at the elementary level (fractions, long-division)
and whatnot.
In order to suceed in math or science at university, they must have a SOLID
background in math. I think this needs to be started in the elementary
level.
