I used this tool (along with several others in the same "family" [search
Freudenthal in the MathTools catalog]) on the second or third day of a unit in
Geometry (high school level) on 3-d objects. Students who were good at
visualizing raced against each other with the tool; students who had trouble
visualizing were successful in using the tools to improve their skills. Very
effective!
