the idea that only one value of this variable will make the statement true.
For instance
11 = 3x + 4
It is quite fine to substitute 9 in for the variable x, resulting in the
equation
11 = 3*9 + 4 as long as you write underneath that this statement is NOT TRUE.
Or use the slash through the equal sign to denote not equal.
