Having the teacher set directions(on paper where the students record their
conclusions) for the students to set the parameters for showimg specific
situations, provides the actual directives necessary for the student's learning
and development of algebraic learning to take place. Allowing the students to
just experiment encourages play without thinking. This applet allows for many
fun experiments that will develop true understanding with directives such as
yours to figure out situations which would make the lines perpendicular or to
have the girl win by 20 seconds. Nice ideas!
