I can definitely see how using this arithmetic number line can help students
add, substract, etc. There were a few things that might make it confusing. That
big one for me was: when numbers are overlapping (i.e. 6 * 3= 18) it's hard to
see the overlap or the answer at times. In regards to division, I don't know if
a student will know what division is by the looking at the number line. Will the
student see how many times 7 goes into 41 by simply looking at the number line?
Will the student conceptually understand what is happening?
In addition, I don't know if I like the answer displayed. I wonder if it would
be better for the student to come up with it.
