The method I use is similar:


9x^2 + 12x + 4

36     |    6
-------------
12     |    6 9/6   9/6
3/2 3/2
(3x + 2)       (3x + 2)


1. Leading coefficient times last constant
2. Factors of this term that add to middle term
3. Put leading coefficient in numerator and first solution in denominator
4. Repeat for second solution
5. Reduce fractions if possible
6. Numerator is x, denominator is constant
