Subject:   Teacher adaptation of instructional materials
Author: Joel Duffin
Date: Sep 4 2003
I recently had a discussion with an NSF program officer about teacher adaptation
of resources. He indicated that he was concerned that teachers might adapt
resources without an understanding of how that would affect student learning. I
am interested to hear teacher perspectives on this issue.

A related issue is teacher use of supplementary materials (materials not
provided with the textbook they are using).

How much do teachers use supplementary materials?

How does use of supplementary materials differ from use of the materials
provided with your curriculum?

Part of why I think this is relevant to this context is because all of the
resources catalogued on this site constitute supplementary materials.
