Subject:   Surfing applet

In class we used the Surfing Applet to introduce the idea of the derivative as a
function: http://mathforum.org/mathtools/tool.html?id=1170&new_id=1002
One student asked a question which lead right into it—she was confused about
what the derivative actually was and this seemed to help. I gave out the url and
told students to revisit only if they wished.
