Dennis, thank you for phrasing this so clearly. This, to me, is the most
important topic in mathematics teaching. And yet, it is rarely discussed, in my
experience. I hope other teachers find that this is a topic of discussion in
their meetings and informal discussions at their respective schools. Thank you
Math Forum for creating a place for this kind of discussion!
