A "jump" or "jump discontinuity" is a very geometric discription of a local
property of some functions. And don't forget "Jordan Curve"  (although I usually
try to forget my experience with Complex Analysis).

Thank you for your questions.  They have been an entertaining distraction from
the work I should be doing!
