| Description: |
Bulaevsky's lesson plan for his Integer Bars applet contains material to introduce many basic mathematical concepts, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, geometry, charts and algebra. The bars can be arranged in different shapes to demonstrate differenc concepts. For example, one can teach even and odd numbers by bar divisibility.
The bars were invented by Emile Georges Cuisenaire, who "was an elementary school teacher in the city of Thuin in the country Belgium in Europe. In 1952 he published the book named 'Numbers in Color' which describes the integer bars." |
