George Reese, received his undergraduate degree in the Liberal Arts from St. John's College in Annapolis, MD (1983). He began his work in education as a counselor for emotional disturbed children at the University of Chicago's "Sonia Shankman Orthogenic School." (1984-85)
He then taught mathematics and science in the Santa Fe Public Schools in New Mexico, and at the Santa Fe Indian School (1986-92). He was a technical writer and a computer programmer for the GenBank DNA sequence database in Los Alamos, NM (1992-94). He received his Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction in December 2002.
He is currently the Associate Director for the Office for Mathematics, Science, and Technology Education (MSTE) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
