Double
Daffodils
In the fall Bud and Blossom Bloom planted 20 daffodil bulbs along their walkway.
In the spring Mrs. Bloom said, "We now have 20 beautiful daffodils flourishing in the sun. If we cultivate these plants properly, each bulb will divide and next spring we will have twice as many beautiful daffodils." Sure enough when the second spring arrived, the Blooms had 40 glorious daffodils dancing in the breeze.
Mr. Bloom asked, "If we keep this up through a 3rd, 4th and 5th year can you picture how many golden daffodils we will have for the 6th spring?"
How
many daffodils will the Blooms have the 6th spring?
How many daffodils will the Blooms have the 10th spring?
How many daffodils will the Blooms have the 20th spring?
Now try to find a general rule for how many daffodils the Blooms will have in the "nth" year.
