ENOUGH EGGS

egg cartonegg cartonegg cartonegg carton

Ann was stopped at a red light. A careless and reckless man neglected to stop and ran into her from behind. Ann loved eggs, and she had a trunk full of nicely stacked eggs in the back. Her insurance company said that they would pay for the eggs lost, but she needed to know how many eggs there were. When she put them in before she left, she had to try several ways before they would all fit. First she tried stacking them in stacks of two, but she had one left over. Then she tried stacks of three, but one was still left over, next she tried stacks of four, still one left over, five, then six, one left over both times. But!!! When she tried stacks of SEVEN, it worked!!! How many eggs were there?
