  1. Identify core concepts. Use Standards and Focal Points where appropriate
  2. Identify key difficulties students run into (e.g. multiplication makes bigger)
  3. Identify core concepts teachers might be missing
  4. Identify tools and problems that surface the issues and offer alternate access and perspectives
  5. Ideally relevant student work as well
  6. Support reflection on the process of learning
  7. Name corresponding and related teaching challenges
  8. Set design tasks to address those
  9. Interact with the wider online mathematics community
