This is the summary of a presentation given at the Joint Mathematics Meetings, January 10-13, 1996, Orlando, Florida.

Some Errors to Avoid in Reforming a Calculus Program

The author attempted to initiate a reformed calculus program at his liberal arts college. Through a series of oversights and mistakes, the attempt was not successful. This paper points out a number of these errors, in the hopes that other departments will not repeat them.
