Our calculus instruction at Sam Houston State University (SHSU) to date has been predominately traditional, although some reform efforts have been made. Among the ``reformers'' are G. Foley and D. Ruch, who are co-PI's on an NSF grant concerning calculus reform, and have been using a curriculum that includes labs and projects, the use of graphing calculators, and cooperative learning.

This fall our faculty will be meeting to decide how to restructure our calculus sequence, and how this will affect the overall curriculum at SHSU. This paper will report on our department's progress in this venture. The topics to be reported on include our discussions of the following: the role of technology, transfer issues, coordination with the service departments, and a reexamination of the topics we teach.
