Writing to Learn Calculus:
Why, What, How
The talk will present reasons why a writing component is
important in a reformed calculus course, some samples of writing activities
that engender learning, and some suggestions for how to pull it off -- that
is, implement and sustain a writing component -- in finite time. These
ideas are based on six years' experience with Project CALC by many
instructors at Duke and other schools.
