This is the summary of a presentation given at the Joint Mathematics Meetings, January 10-13, 1996, Orlando, Florida.

The performance and personal growth of many Calculus students can potentially improve with the development of mathematical reading skills. In this talk results of using daily reading assignments coupled with brief reading quizzes are presented. Several sample quizzes will be given along with a discussion of aspects influencing student reading and comprehension.
