Data Analysis, Statistics and Probability Summary

The final session began with questions to our first year members about any problems, concerns, or questions they may have. Everyone reported that they felt very comfortable with our group, and the sharing that has taken place. We are all excited to use FATHOM and our PCMI Problems during the year, hoping the mentoring process will go smoothly. But we are not concerned because we know that Suzanne is only an email away!

Marie worked with Shelly to "polish" our Biased Rectangles Activity. We seem to have worked out the graphics problems (at least for this activity). We then sent a 'final' version to Suzanne to be posted on our working group page.

The rest of the FATHOM group went to the lab to save everything we wanted from the shared drive to be burned to the PCMI 2002 CD. We then helped burn the CD's for ourselves and the other high school teachers.

The current PCMI Problems have all been edited, and solutions (as well as audience and grade level) have been included.

During the year, as problems arise, we will use either email or the Discussion site to keep the lines of communication open between our group. Timelines will be sent to Suzanne on individual PCMI Problems as we figure out when and where they will be used. Pairs may be teaching similar topics at different times due to varying schedules, but all have pledged to mentor as needed. New activities that we discover will be shared, as well as new activities that we create and want to be added to our web site.

As a group we feel we have accomplished a great deal in three weeks and everyone looks forward to coming back next year.
