Reflection on Practice Class: Day 14
Akihiko Takahashi

Some of you really want to know about the results. The product is important, but the process is even more important. The winner of Iron Chef #2 is the McAllen group! Please look at all of the posters which are posted on the website during the school year. Please consider using them to promote mathematics learning by your students.

Three weeks ago we talked about how we can build mathematics in the classroom. We talked about instruction and interaction. It is important to consider student solutions. In order to have a good problem we need to learn mathematics. We need to do a lot of preparation in order to have a good lesson.

Aki presented a brief introduction to lesson study. Many elementary and middle school teachers in Japan use this method. Not just math teachers. Few high school Japanese teachers use lesson study. It is more like a research proposal for teachers.
