Exploring Discrete Mathematics Summary
Monday - Friday, July 5 - 9, 2010
The Discrete Group has now broken into two friendly factions. Our distinguished leader, Brian, has been very successful in orchestrating both groups.
Group I has taken on a renovation of the work performed by one of Discrete's 2009 projects. Debbie and Randall are reorganizing the project and performing a final edit. We frequently hear comments like "Wow!," "Oh, my!," and "Hmmm!" from their side of the room.
Group II is now pursuing the monstrous endeavor of creating a multi-tiered approach for a product that will be useful for all of our various classrooms. It is the goal of this group to emulate the work of the legendary team, Darryl and Bowen. It would be sensational if we could reproduce their style in our work. Monica and Jemal have undertaken the task that will align our work with the NCTM Problem Solving Standards. Jesse and Ashli are currently "overwhelmed" with creating and editing the problem sets. They are trying to tackle the connection between x + y + z = k and its many solutions to the more famous (infamous) Water Jugs problems - do you know how many of those exist in the web world? Jet is making the attempt to illustrate the problems in Word and to provide solutions to the head-scratchers produced by Jesse and Ashli.
