Matrix of Mathematical Practices Related to Functions
Cal Armstrong*, Evelyn Baracaldo, Sandra Corbacioglu, Kieran Flahive, Ana Hernandez, Armando Jiminez, Dominic Lakey, Thomas Regele, Titin Suryati Sukmadewi, Judy Song and Amy Young
This matrix is designed to map the content related to the topic of functions of the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics (CCSSM) onto the eight Mathematical Practices (MP). Each member of the Functions Group took on one of the Standards and created or modified an existing task which clearly demonstrates one or more of the Mathematical Practices. A task may consist of a worksheet, activity or set of teacher notes to present a lesson. Each task is accompanied by a teacher commentary and solutions. Along with the solutions, wherever a mathematical practice is demonstrated, the number of the practice is noted along with a descriptor of how a student may demonstrate the practice at that stage of the solution.
