Length of the Hypotenuse - Feb, 13-17, 1995
"Oye como va!" said Carlos, as he arrived for math class. "I found another cool problem!"
"This is on one of the puzzle groups on the Internet, right?" asked Pete.
"Yeah, and I already figured it out. Now you try. Here's the problem:
The medians of a right triangle which are drawn from the vertices of the acute angles are 5 and sq root of 40. What is the length of the hypotenuse?"
"You spend too much time on that Internet thing, man," said Pete. "You've got to change your evil ways."
"No way!" exclaimed Carlos. "I'm learning all sorts of great stuff! Like these puzzles - you ought to give your brain some exercise and try them yourself."
