Brandenburg's Recommended Math Books (27 June 2014)
Looking for some good summer reading? Check out Brandenburg's book list, organized into math and science sub-topics, and annotated with capsule reviews and reading level ratings. Guy Brandenburg used to assign his 8th and 9th grade algebra and geometry students to read two of these books each year, and then write reports on them.
 
Summer Problems of the Week (20 June 2014)
While we get ready for another series of Problems of the Week (PoWs) starting at the end of August, we'll scale back our responses. But every two weeks from now until then, the Math Forum will continue to post challenging open-response math problems and accept solutions to them.
 
Problem of the Week Certificates (13 June 2014)
We have just posted students' solutions and mentors' commentary for the last Problems of the Week (PoWs) of the 2013-2014 academic year. To honor your Mathematical Wordsmiths, Deep Conceptual Thinkers, Superb Strategists, and other kinds of great problem-solvers, help yourself to our PoW certificates of participation. Suggested to us by a teacher member, these free PDFs have blank spaces for student names, and make snazzy hand-outs for your end-of-the-year ceremonies.

Developing Powerful Problem Solvers (25 April 2014)
Come join us for our newest online course! Developing Powerful Problem Solvers will kick off Thursday, 1 May, for teachers of grades 3-8. This moderated course will make use of our book, Powerful Problem Solving, and the growing collection of classroom videos, student handouts, and resources from its companion website:

All individuals who successfully complete this online course will receive a certificate indicating that they have completed 20 hours of professional development. This is equivalent to 2.0 Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
