December Additions to Steve's Dump (31 December 1996)
Over 215 new entries to "Steve's Dump" were added during December 1997. One of these sites, The Mathematics of Cartography by Cynthia Lanius, has also been selected as the January 1997 Hot Spot.

Latest Additions to the Dr. Math Archives (31 December 1996)
90 new Questions-&-Answer entries were added to the tables of contents in the Dr. Math Archives during December 1996.

Four 4's Puzzle (15 December 1996)
Posted by Ruth Carver. Using four 4's and any operations, students are challenged to try to write equations that have the numbers from 0 to 100 as the answer. Another activity featured on the Forum's Math Puzzles page.

1996 Puzzle (3 December 1996)
Posted by Ruth Carver. Students are challenged to use the digits in 1996 and any operations to write equations that have the numbers from 0 to 100 as the answer. The first and "best" solutions are posted along with the name of the people who find them. This is one of the activities featured on the Forum's Math Puzzles page.

November Additions to Steve's Dump (2 December 1996)
Over 125 new entries to "Steve's Dump" have been added since November 1. One of these sites, Mathematics Problem Solving Challenges, has also been selected as the December Hot Spot.

Polyhedra in the Classroom (2 December 1996)
This unit by Suzanne Alejandre introduces the concepts of surface area and volume while focusing on the importance of measurement. Students calculate the surface area of a rectangular prism; name the characteristics of 6 specific polyhedra; and explore polyhedra in the real world through crystalline structures and 'buckyballs'. All objectives are coordinated with the NCTM Standards.
