- MetroMath (29 March 2004)
- Stephen Weimar and Suzanne Alejandre presented The Math Forum@Drexel: An Online Math Education Community Center at the Philadelphia launch of MetroMath at The Enterprise Center. MetroMath is a partnership of the University of Pennsylvania, Rutgers-The State University of New Jersey in New Brunswick and Newark, the City
University of New York (CUNY), the CUNY Graduate Center, and the school
districts of Philadelphia, New York City, Newark, and Plainfield (NJ). It
was initiated in September 2003 with a grant from the National Science
Foundation to become a "Center of Learning and Teaching" focused on
mathematics in urban communities.

- Free Mentoring in Pre-Algebra March 29 - April 25 (24 March 2004)

The Math Forum will have volunteer mentor groups working with students in the Pre-Algebra Problem of the Week for the next two problems (that's four weeks of mentoring!). The problem "Women's Walkway" is accepting submissions March 29 through April 11. The mentor group is from Hope College. The problem "All the Similar Triangles" beginning April 12, will be mentored by a group from California State University, Chico.

- Math Tools: A Digital Library and Community (19 March 2004)
- Steve Risberg presented a session at the Good Ideas in Teaching Precalculus conference at Rutgers University on March 19, 2004. The session included a tour of the Math Forum site and an in-depth look at the Math Tools project.

- T3 International Conference (18 March 2004)

Steve Risberg and Suzanne Alejandre staffed the Math Forum booth at the T3 International Conference held in New Orleans, Louisiana, March 12-14, 2004. Conversations were focused on the Texas Instruments Apps cataloged in the Math Tools digital library, the Dr. Math books, and the Math Forum site in general.

- Free Mentoring in Pre-Algebra March 1 - 14 (1 March 2004)

The Math Forum will have a volunteer mentor group from Western Oregon University working with students in the Pre-Algebra Problem of the Week. The problem "Drama Dollars" is accepting submissions now through March 14.

- Radnor Workshop (13 February 2004)
- Annie Fetter, Suzanne Alejandre, and the middle school teachers of the Radnor School District discussed ways to use Geometer's Sketchpad and resources from Math Tools to support mathematics instruction. The workshop was held in Radnor, PA.

- Our First Geometry PoW-Wow (12 February 2004)
- We hosted our first Geometry PoW-Wow on Thursday night, February 12. This was an opportunity for students to work together in small groups, using AOL's Instant Messenger, to talk about the next Geometry Problem of the Week. This is the first in what will hopefully be a developing series of opportunities for students to do math collaboratively on the Math Forum site - the students who participated asked if we would be doing it again next week!

- Steve Risberg and Suzanne Alejandre will staff the Math Forum booth (No. 104) at the T3 International Conference to be held in New Orleans, Louisiana, March 12-14, 2004. Join us there!

- 2004 Mathematics Game - Judy Ann Brown (9 January 2004)
- Write expressions for each of the counting numbers 1 through 100, using the digits in the year 2004, standard operations, and grouping symbols. This puzzle is appropriate for students in grades 3-12 with a general knowledge of mathematics.
