March Where the Sidewalk Ends and the Technology Starts (24 March 2006) Claire Mead presented and exhibited at the New Hampshire Teachers of Mathematics Spring Conference. During her hands-on workshop participants explored several effective strategies for using technology to integrate math and literature.   Teaching Math Counts (10 March 2006) Claire Mead just completed a five-session inservice series called Teaching Math Counts in Trenton for MercerETTC funded by a Teacher Quality grant and coordinated by Anne Catena.   Emerging Trends in Academe (8 March 2006) Stephen Weimar, Director, The Math Forum @ Drexel, authored the most recent publication by senior Drexel administrators highlighting initiatives through which Drexel has taken a leadership position in higher education. The Math Forum @ Drexel: Serving the Need for Math Education Online is the feature of the April, 2006, issue.   February FunPoW: Free Mentoring Opportunity (13 February 2006) Mentors from the Western Oregon University are offering free mentoring for the next Math Fundamentals Problem of the Week. Sports Weigh In will be active February 20 through March 5. Please have your students submit solutions. If your students receive replies from a mentor, encourage them to revise. Not only will your students learn more, but the mentors will learn as well! Free 21-day Trial Class Accounts are available.   Using Technology in the Mathematics Classroom (4 February 2006) Cynthia Lanius presented a workshop for mathematics teacher leaders in Houston, Texas.   January Mentoring 11th Grade Students in Philadelphia (19 January 2006) Stephen Weimar, Steve Risberg, and Richard Tchen introduced 11th grade math coaches and instructional leaders to the mentoring component of the School District of Philadelphia Problems of the Week project.   Engaging Students (19 January 2006) Annie Fetter and Suzanne Alejandre worked with the Lockheed Martin Ambassadors in Moorestown, New Jersey.   Camden County MATRIX Workshop (13 January 2006) Annie Fetter presented Sketchpad activities for teachers to use in their 6th, 7th, and 8th grade classrooms at a workshop held at the Camden County ETTC in Sicklerville, New Jersey.   Using The Geometer's Sketchpad® in the Classroom (10 January 2006) Annie Fetter did Sketchpad activities with 6th, 7th, and 8th graders at Magnolia School in Magnolia, New Jersey.   School District of Philadelphia Problems of the Week (12 January 2006) Stephen Weimar, Annie Fetter, Suzanne Alejandre, and Cynthia Paul introduced the new Problem of the Week service for the School District of Philadelphia to the Math Coaches serving the K-8 schools in the district. The three sessions on January 10 through 12, were held at De Burgos School.   2006 Mathematics Game - Judy Ann Brown (1 January 2006) Use the digits in the year 2006 and the operations +, -, x, ÷, ^ (raised to a power), sqrt (square root), and ! (factorial), along with grouping symbols, to write expressions for the counting numbers 1 through 100.
