Mathematics and Education Reform (MER)

The Math Circle Teaching Assistant Robert Kaplan has worked with research mathematicians to carry on some very promising work with school students.

In the February, 1996 Notices, Ed Dubinsky has a thought-provoking article on "Undergraduate Mathematics Education Needs Your Critical Concern."

For a case study in how research mathematicians can involve school students in mathematics see the Southwest RIMS home page. See also the article on this project, "Integration of Research and Education," by William Ysalas Velez, in the October, 1996 issue of the Notices of the AMS.

Please see the Key Issues page in general, the Key Problems and Opportunities page in particular, and do answer some of the Key Questions.
