Sieves, Fireworks

Both of these photographs feature great contrast, and both were taken using a tripod and cable release, but the subjects are very different.

The still life with sieves was constructed to display shadows and stayed still during the exposure, while the fireworks appeared in the viewfinder more or less by chance, as I left the lens open and pointed the camera at a randomly chosen patch of dark sky during a fireworks display.
