Rotation & Translation Exploration

Click and drag points and/or lines in this sketch in order to place the yellow triangle on top of the red triangle.

Cycloid

Create a cycloid by tracing the locus of a point on a circle as the circle translates along a line segment.

Area of a Parallelogram

Explore the relations between various distances and the area of the parallelogram in this sketch. What happens to the area when we drag D along the line CE?

Area of a Rectangle

What happens to the area when we slide D along the line? What stays the same? Compare the area of the triangle with the area of a related parallelogram.
