TIMSS United States: International Mathematics and Science Study - U.S. TIMSS National Research Center, Michigan State University
- The Third International Mathematics and Science Study represents the most extensive investigation of mathematics and science education ever conducted. Approximately 50 countries participated in this comparative survey of education focusing upon 9-year-old and 13-year-old students, and students in their last year of secondary school. The US TIMSS site offers papers and publications, a newsletter, press releases, overheads, and the database files for the International Curriculum Analysis Database, which may be downloaded by country.
Tools for Discussion: Attaining Excellence Through TIMSS - Eisenhower National Clearinghouse (ENC)
- A compilation of materials related to the Third International Mathematics and Science Study, TIMSS. The site contains most of the materials in the Attaining Excellence resource kit produced by the U.S. Department of Education, with summaries of TIMSS results; guidelines for discussing the videotaped lessons as well as full transcripts; in-depth analysis of the international results; using the TIMSS video study to discuss classroom practice; and tools for examining school curricula. The project also includes publications, Web links from a range of sources and organizations, and email lists relating to the study.
