The following files are available in /software/pc: dy-syst.zip Program for exploring Newton's method for roots of polynomials in the complex plane, the Mandelbrot set, and Julia sets. Allows multiple simultaneous color images. Requires a 386 or 486 with a math coprocessor and Windows. You must ftp this file in BINARY mode (check the instructions for your ftp program to see how to do this). euklid.zip Euklid is a dynamic geometry program written by a teacher in Germany to provide a Cabri-like environment for Windows. The program and documentation are in German, but if you are familiar with dynamic geometry programs you should be able to work it. Please contact us if you find the program useful, as we will work with the author to provide English-language documentation. Shareware. Get the latest version of Euklid (German and English) at the author's web site: http://home.t-online.de/home/roland.mechling/enghmpg.htm fractal.grafics This is a drawing program that allows _you_ to draw fractal images, using a "fractal template". You use the template to create complex shapes with rich detail and assemble these shapes into images. Requires DOS 2.1 or higher and a minimum of 384K of memory. Shareware. $39. fractint A freeware fractal generator created for IBMPC's and compatible computers to run under DOS and ported to Linux. IBPMT24.ZIP This program is a windows based conversion program to convert from one unit of measure to another. The only conversion program based on the ASTM E380-93 standard practice for use of the international system of units (SI). The program also performs engineering, physics, geometry, and electrical functions. penrose This is an AutoCAD (PC version) script file that generates Penrose tilings. It requires release 11 or higher. The directory contains a .zip file and the readme file from the program. polyray This directory contains three different versions of POLYRAY, a shareware ray-tracer. Has versions for 286, 386, and 486, with and without math-coprocessor. pov The Persistence of Vision Ray Tracer (POV-Ray) is a copyrighted freeware program that allows a user to easily create fantastic, three dimensional, photo-realistic images on just about any computer. POV-Ray reads standard ASCII text files that describe the shapes, colors, textures and lighting in a scene and mathematically simulates the rays of light moving through the scene to produce a photo-realistic image! The IBM-PC version is called POVRAY.EXE and is found in the archive POVIBM.ZIP. It can be run on any IBM-PC with a 386 or 486 CPU and 2 megabytes of memory. A math co-processor is not required, but it is recommended. This version of POV-Ray may be run under DOS, OS\2, and Windows. It will not run under Desqview at this time. A version that runs on IBM-PC's using the 286 CPU will be available soon. SymmeToy SYMMETOY v1.0 - Win3.1, Win95 A Windows program for creating paint patterns, symmetry roses, tesselated art and symmetrically decorated 3D polyhedron models. Easy to learn and fun to use.
