Pat Ballew
  • taught AP math (calculus and Stats) for over twenty years, the last 16 in Japan and England for the US Department of Defense
  • won the Presidential award (PAEMST) in 1991
  • is very interested in the origin, history, and etymology of the symbols and words we use in mathematics and mathematics education

Peg Cagle [@pegcagle]
  • has taught sixth grade math to Honors Algebra II/Trigonometry, as well as various science and elective courses in the Los Angeles Unified School District
  • took a leave of absence from the classroom (2011-2012) to serve as an Einstein Fellow on Capitol Hill as a member of Senator Kirsten Gillibrand's (D-NY) staff
  • won the Presidential award (PAEMST) in 2005
  • is very interested in issues impacting K-12 math education instruction, curricula, research and especially policy and has just started blogging: Peg Cagle's Math Education News & Views You Can Use

Claudia Carter
  • teaches 11th and 12th grade at the Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science in Columbus, MS
  • recipient of Joseph B. Whitehead Educator of Distinction Award (2004)
  • mentors middle school teachers through a grant with Center for Creative Learning

Ralph Connelly
  • author of elementary school textbooks (Journeys in Math; Interactions; Math Makes Sense)
  • served as Canadian Director for NCSM
  • Professor of Mathematics Education, teaching elementary mathematics methods and doing professional development for teachers Gr. K-8
  •

Mary Lou Derwent
  • currently a clinical faculty member for mathematics education in the Alliance for Catholic Education graduate program at the University of Notre Dame as well as mentor for middle / secondary math teachers.
  • previously taught mathematics at Indiana University South Bend, IN and St. Joseph's High School, South Bend, IN
  • founder and current director of a volunteer staffed tutoring / mentoring program called SUCCESS for a needy inner city Catholic school in South Bend, IN

Fred Dillon [@fdizzle1955]
  • has completed 35 of teaching in the Greater Cleveland area.
  • has taught all grades from 7-12, with a recent emphasis on AP Calculus BC and AP Statistics
  • says that his proudest achievement is being selected as the Most Influential Teacher by students at his high school seven times.

Gail Englert
  • teaches seventh grade at Blair Middle School in Norfolk, VA
  • had the opportunity to serve a 3 year term on the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics
  • heard about T2T through CPAM, the Council for Presidential Awardees in Mathematics, and has truly enjoyed this opportunity to share ideas with others
  •

Kristina Lasher
  • currently teaches math to fifth through 8th grade students at Gill St. Bernard's School in Gladstone, NJ
  • is interested in working with pre-service elementary teachers to help them both know and like math a little better
  • enjoyed four wonderful years working full-time for the Math Forum on projects like T2T and the Problems of the Week
  •

Jeanne Shimizu
  • taught high school mathematics for 21 years in California: 4 years in San Jose and 17 years in the Sacramento Area.
  • won the Presidential Award (PAEMST) in 1998 for secondary mathematics.
  • learned about T2T through CPAM, the Council for Presidential Awardees in Mathematics, and has enjoyed volunteering for T2T and sharing ideas.
  • currently holds a dual appointment in the School of Education and the Mathematics Department of SUNY Old Westbury. She teaches secondary mathematics methods and undergraduate mathematics.
  • is the Program Coordinator for Adolescence Education: Mathematics in the School of Education, SUNY Old Westbury.

William Thill [@roughlynormal]
  • has taught Mathematics and AP Statistics at Harvard-Westlake since 2000.
  • is currently a finalist for the 2011 Presidential Award in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST)
  • is a staff member of the Park City Mathematics Institute Secondary Schools Teachers Program, where he co-wrote and designed three-week courses on the teaching of mathematics
