After a career in finance and budgeting, Wendy Menard joined the NYC Teaching Fellows in 2006 and never looked back. In addition to subverting the minds of adolescents with the beauty of math, her practice focuses on increasing equity and access in education through the teaching of mathematics. Toward this end she participates in and facilitates workshops and professional learning teams on Racially Relevant Pedagogy, as well as blogs about this and other goings on in her classroom at Her Mathness.

Wendy received her B.A. in English at SUNY Albany and an M.A. in Literature from Columbia University, which naturally led to her career in financial analysis. Tiring of the tending to other people's money, she joined the ranks of public school teachers in 2006, earning her M.S.T. in Secondary Math Education at Pace University. She served as a Common Core Fellow with the NYC Department of Education from 2012-2015, and has been a Math for America Master Teacher since 2015. She also writes for the Global Math Department weekly newsletter. And when she's not teaching, tutoring, or collaborating online, Wendy quilts.
