The defenses I'm reading on Front End Estimation seem to miss the point. Examples are given of situations where adults who have a grounding in math are estimating on the fly... But the whole point of school is to TEACH that grounding in math skills the adults are using. These kids need to develop a solid foundation in real math skills. You have to learn to walk before you can learn to fly, as the saying goes. Front End Estimation is something that should be left for much later in life, if it even needs to be taught at all.
