From: alanakelly@aol.com <adding up to 20> To: Teacher2Teacher Public Discussion Date: 2005081000:48:12 Subject: Addition and Subtaction with numbers 1-20 For the last two years, my first grade class has used a new math program that was patented in 2000 and has been supplemental approved through the State of California in 2003. It is called the Han-5 System of Mathematics. It does teach students on their hands, but after practice they can see the relationships of "math fact families" and then drop their hands! It is really powerful to learn. Plus, it makes learning so much fun for all learning styles! The web site you can go to for more information is www.han5math.com.
