Subject: Re: Zero as an even number

According to the 6th grade Connected Mathematics booklet "Prime Time,"
zero is an even number. Several reasons are given: zero divided by
two gives a remainder of 0; zero is beside an odd number which makes
it even since numbers distributed on the number line as odd, even,
odd,... . I had always thought of zero as neither odd nor even but
these two reasons do make sense.
