Have you asked the teacher if he/she could make a copy of the book for
you?  Maybe you could get the book and make copies yourself and return
it.  Talk with school personel such as a guidance counselor.  They may
be able to help you.  I see no reason why the teacher couldn't provide
you with extra materials to help your grandchild.  Good luck
