I like the prior example with the spreadsheet. I'd ask the students the following question: "What has more significant impact to your earnings, the interest percentage or the time invested?" With the spreadsheet you could change for example the percentage from 6% to 7% to show the impact over the years. then you could go back and add 10 more years to see what would happen at 6%. Hopefully the students will see that time invested is truely the magic of compounding as Einstein said.
