From: Chris Stoney <stoneyc@guilford.k12.nc.us> To: Teacher2Teacher Public Discussion Date: 1999113020:37:25 Subject: Re: gifted middle school Our school has three highly motivated and gifted students who are currently eigth graders taking geometry at the high school next door. Both the middle and high schools have worked together to ensure that the students are able to successfully meet academic criteria at both levels. These students are active members in our MathCounts team club and are achieving quite highly with A averages in Honors Geometry. If students are inclined and are highly motivated to succeed, moving into a high school geometry class is beneficial both academically and personally to further develop self-confidence.
