From: Tonda Dunbar <tonnawanna@yahoo.com> To: Teacher2Teacher Public Discussion Date: 2001060812:26:39 Subject: Interviewing Questions One question that would work for both elementary and intermediate levels is to ask how the teacher would incorporate the use of math journals into the curriculum. Many of the new standardized tests ask students to explain their reasoning rather than to simply come up with the correct answer and many of the scoring rubrics look for key mathematical words - so you also might ask how the teacher incorporates math vocabulary into instruction - math is a language all its own! I always ask how the teacher goes about developing a math concept - like decimals or place value.
