Spiritual Weakness, Social Setting, and Physical Health. Through parents you can change a kids social setting in hopes to change his/her's pressures and stability at home. What has truly worked for me though is helping ones spiritual weakness by giving them motivation. Every kid is a secular case and must be dealt with accordingly but once they can find a motivation and become present with the moment they should be able to overcome their apathetic behavior.
