Mean (Arithmetic) i. Mean can be used to see the average mark of the class obtained. This average helps to see how many students are above average, how many are average students and how many are below averages. The teacher tries to help the average and below average students to score more grades in future. ii. In a factory, the mean of the wages helps the authorities to know if the workers' welfare is maintained. iii. It also helps to compare the salaries of the employees of the different companies. iv. In sales, the average sales in the district helps the sales manager to plan for increasing the sales in the future. v. The governemnt takes the average income and expense of the citizens to know whether the citizens rights are maintained. vi. The family finds the average of their expenses to balance their finance. vii. The average production of agricultural commodities, the industrial goods, the average exports and imports help the country to see their developments. viii. It is also used to contrast the salaries of the workers Median i. It is used to measure the distribution of the earnings ii. Used to find the players height e.g. football players iii. To find the middle age from the class students iv. It is also used to find the poverty line Mode i. It is used to influx of the public transport ii. The number of games succeeded by any team of players iii. The frequency of the need of infants iv. Used to find the number of the mode of the calculation of wages , in the patients going to the hospitals , the mode of travel etc.
