Subject: Re: Criss-cross method = Garbage

This Criss-cross method for adding fractions is trash and will only
serve to confuse. It does not teach any concept at all. Students need
to multiply each fraction by the correct fraction that equals 1. It is
SO IMPORTANT that students learn the underlying properties that lead
to the answer.

1/3 + 3/4 =
1/3*4/4 + 3/4*3/3 =
4/12 + 9/12 = 13/12

We need to stress good fundamentals!
