In my state, gifted students receive special services. Does your district have a description of the mission and goals of its gifted program? Does someone coordinate it beyond the curriculum director? Does your son's counselor know what resources are available? Is there a gifted advisory committee or group of parents of gifted children? These groups may help you understand the district's program and what is available for your son. If your district cannot help, you need to check with your state education office to see what type of services you can request for your son. The Eric Clearinghouse on Gifted Education might have some ideas for you also http://www.cec.sped.org/gifted/gt-menu.htm Also try the links at the National Association of Gifted Children http://www.nagc.org/Other/index.html -Jenny, for the Teacher2Teacher service
