Our district's newly elected school board last week voted to put into place for the 06-07 school year a 7th grade pre-algebra class that was supposed to be piloted in the 07-08 school year. This decision was made in spite of pleas by high school and junior high math teachers, curriculum and committee members to WAIT for the 07-08 school year as originally planned. To top it off, the school board voted to REMOVE all prerequisites for this "accelerated track" class. Again, the board ignored pleas from educators, parents, administrators to keep the prereqs in place. Does anyone out there have any experience with a class like this when prereq's were not in place? Or does anyone have any advice?
