Hi Brian, You might think about things that you already have just a part of, like 1/2 of a cake, or 1/3 of a pot of soup, or 1/4 of a dollar. Then, imagine that you needed to share those things with a number of people... or perhaps you know the size serving you want to share, and you need to find out how many servings that part you have will yield... For example, you have 1/2 of a cake, and you know the usual serving size is 1/8 of a cake. You want to know how many 1/8 sized pieces there are in 1/2 of a cake... that is, 1/2 divided by 1/8. Or maybe you have 1/2 of a cake, and you want to share it with 5 people. That means you want to find out how big each piece will be. 1/2 divided by 5 should tell you.
