Subject: Mathematics language and word problems

My students are having difficulties in understanding and consequently they
are unable to solve word problems. It seems that they do not have the basic
background knowledge of key mathematical terms. I am confused. Should I
gather an amount of mathematical terms and teach them? But in this case, with
which terms should I start first?
